Writing Plugins

Historical reference: writing Plugins.

A reference from an earlier chapter

This material preserves the original Textual documentation and may describe older versions, former services, or superseded policies. It is not a statement of current availability or new Blendbyte commitments.

For current guidance: Developing plugins.

A “plugin” (also known as an “addon” or “extension”) is a bundle that is loaded when the app launches. Plugins, which are written in Objective-C or Swift, have virtually unlimited access to Textual's codebase. They can add new features, modify the behavior of features that already exist, and much, much more.
